Best of inNOWvate Supply Chain Event – May 22, 2024
“Innovate or die.” That was the overall theme of the seventh edition of the inNOWvate Supply Chain Event, in movie theatre complex Pathé in Amsterdam on 22nd May 2024. Martijn Lofvers, Chief Trendwatcher of Supply Chain Media and moderator of the day, expressed that companies should pick their battles and choose a path to either Peak Planning, Sustainable Summit or Mount Visibility.
The well-known futurologist Magnus Lindkvist asked the audience: “Do you want to compete or create?” According to Lindkvist Companies need to look elsewhere, seek creative friction and look for caterpillar ideas; ideas that can transform into butterflies.
Carsten Rasmussen, COO of Lego, shared his company’s journey to create more resilience in its strong growth with a lot of new product introductions. And David Schwartz, VP Global Tech Venturing & Innovation at PepsiCo, came over to Europe to explain their structural approach to collaborate with supply chain start-ups. Carlos Cordon, professor at IMD Business School, joined the conversation with the two executives on stage.
Pierre Mille, until very recently Head of Global Supply Chain at Versuni, presented all their efforts on circularity of products and supply chains. Director Global Planning at Heineken Wilko Sierksma told the audience how the global brewery is able to decentralize decision making by centralizing its planning platforms. Again, Carlos Cordon had an insightful conversation with the executives.
Martijn Lofvers wrapped up the event with the advice to visualize the complete ecosystem of companies with all stakeholders and the different flows of goods, information and money. With this visualization it’s easier for companies to predict disruptions, detect bottlenecks and find synergies. For supply chain innovation and business survival that is crucial.
